1) I knew I had a voice to sing at around 7 years old. There was a time that my parents made me so upset (I don’t remember what over), but instead of telling them in words I wrote and performed them a song on the piano about how they hurt my feelings and I was sad. Everyone was so impressed! I didn’t understand why at the time.
2) Growing up, I sang mostly at church and in local community choirs. I eventually went on to attend performing arts high school where I majored in acting but performed mainly main parts in musicals— i.e: Demeter in “Cats”, Fairy Godmother in “Cinderella”.
3) In my own artistry, I sing R&B. However, I’ve grown up singing all three.
4) My favorite instruments to play are piano, guitar, and trumpet. I’m also good at drums and bass guitar. One instrument that I have always wanted to play for some reason is the harp! Such a beautiful instrument— physically and sonically.
5) My main inspirations for playing instruments have been artists and musicians like Prince, Lenny Kravitz, Alicia Keys, Bootsy Collins, etc. Someone current who inspires me to add more instruments to the list is H.E.R.
6) I’m striving to become one of the next big things in R&B. I’m so bored with the genre right now. I want to bring something new and exciting to the music industry and the R&B scene.
7) College was fun! At first, I was very bored and ready to come back home. But joining the music group that I was apart of really optimized my whole college experience. Most of college I spent traveling back and forth doing shows, interviews, studio sessions when I didn’t have class (or often even when I did).
8 & 9) I just received my Bachelor’s Degree. My major was International Business, minors in Music and Spanish.
10) Of course! That’s I’m currently doing and have been doing for years. I’m in a really good place right now. All of the hard work I’ve put in in the last few years is paying off in major ways.
11) My music career as an R&B artist is my ideal job, alongside owning my own International Music School.
12) I think it’s important to find your rhythm and stick with it. It’s not easy to pursue an entertainment career while attending school, but the payoff is so worth it! I’ve set myself up to do all of the things that I want to do in life and I’m still so young. Once you learn how to balance and multitask— which just happen to be things I’ve always been good at— you’ll be in a good place to do both. That is, if you’re passionate, determined and dedicated.
